City and County of Honolulu Approved General Excise Tax Surcharge
Aloha,
As you may be aware, the City and County of Honolulu approved an additional General Excise Tax Surcharge, effective from January 1, 2007, in order to fund the construction of the Oahu mass transit system. You may read more about the County Surcharge at the Department of Tax website:

Customers consuming services on Oahu will notice a small increase in the total amount billed each billing cycle due to the new surcharge. This will be reflected in the General Excise Tax line item of your invoice.
Customers who use an automatic bill payment service or who are used to writing a check for a certain amount each billing period should check their invoices to make sure they are remitting the correct amount. Mahalo for your attention to this matter.
